Aishani's POV
Mornings in this house always felt the same.
Dadi's voice. Utensils clinking. Isha shouting from one room to another. Aunty asking everyone if they ate.
And Dr. AngryBird acting like emotions are illegal.
I walked into the dining room, still fixing my hair lazily.
"Good morning, everyone," I said dramatically, dropping into my chair.
"Very good morning, sleeping beauty," Isha replied.
"You should thank me. My presence makes mornings better."
"Your presence makes mornings louder," came Dr. Grumpy's calm voice from behind his coffee cup.
I gasped.
"Wow. Such disrespect."
He did not even look up.
โGood morning to you too,โ I said sweetly.
He didnโt respond.
I narrowed my eyes.
โDo surgeons dream about organs? Or do they count heartbeats instead of sleeping?โ
Silence.
Isha chuckled.
โI donโt dream,โ he said.
โThat explains a lot,โ I muttered.
"Eat your breakfast."
Isha burst out laughing.
Before anyone could say anything else, my phone rang.
I looked at the screen.
Bhai.
My face lit up instantly.
"Aditya bhai!"
I picked up immediately.
"Hello!?"
"Aishu," his familiar teasing voice came from the other side. "Did you forget you have a brother or what?"
"No! You forgot me first!"
"Drama queen."
I smiled so hard my cheeks hurt.
"When are you coming?"
"Actually..." he paused.
"What actually?"
"I am in Kolkata."
I froze.
"WHAT!?"
Everyone at the table looked up.
"You are WHAT!?"
"I am outside your college."
I nearly jumped out of my chair.
"You're here!? Bhai!!"
"Yes. Calm down. You sound like someone won the lottery."
"You came without telling me!?"
"Wanted to surprise you."
"You're the best person alive."
"I know."
I cut the call and stood up immediately.
"What happened?" Aunty asked.
"Bhai is here!"
Isha's eyes widened.
"Your brother!?"
I nodded so hard my hair almost slapped my face.
"He is outside the college!"
Revansh finally looked up.
Just for a second.
"Sit and eat first," he said.
"No time!"
"You'll faint halfway there."
"I won't faint."
"You almost faint every alternate day now."
I blinked.
The whole table went silent.
He realized what he had said.
I realized too.
"Uh... I mean..." he cleared his throat. "Eat first."
I stared at him for a second.
Then smiled faintly.
"Okay, Doctor Sahab."
Car
The whole car ride, I could barely sit still.
I kept checking my phone every two seconds.
"Sit properly," Revansh said.
"I am sitting properly."
"No. You are vibrating."
"Obviously. My brother is here."
His fingers tightened slightly on the steering wheel.
"Hm."
I looked at him suspiciously.
"Why are you acting weird?"
"I am driving."
"That is not an answer."
"That is enough answer."
Hmph.
The moment the car stopped near the college gate, I got out quickly.
College
And then I saw him.
Standing near the gate in a black shirt and jeans, sunglasses hanging from his collar.
My brother.
"Bhaaaaiii!"
I ran toward him.
He opened his arms just in time before I crashed into him.
"Aishu!" he laughed.
"You idiot! Why didn't you tell me!?"
"Because then how would I get this dramatic welcome?"
I hit his arm lightly.
"You are so mean."
"And you are still tiny."
"Excuse me!?"
He laughed and pulled my cheeks.
Behind us, the car door closed.
I turned.
Dr. Grumpy stood there.
Hands in pockets. White shirt. Calm face. Unreadable eyes.
"Bhai, this is Dr. Revansh Roy," I said quickly.
"Dr. AngryBird," I added under my breath.
"I heard that," Revansh said.
Aditya looked between us once.
Then smiled.
"So you are the famous Dr. Revansh Roy."
Revansh gave a small nod.
"And you are Aditya."
"Aishani talks a lot about you."
I almost choked.
"I do not!"
Aditya smirked.
"You do. A lot."
His eyes moved toward me.
I looked away immediately.
"Anyway!" I said loudly. "Bhai, come. I'll show you around."
Aditya looked at Revansh once again.
"Thank you for taking care of my sister."
He looked at me.
Then back at him.
"She doesn't make it easy."
"Obviously not," Aditya replied smoothly. "She has been chaos since birth."
"Excuse me!?"
Both of them ignored me.
Rude.
Author's POV
For the first time, Revansh saw a completely different side of Aishani.
Louder. Softer. Childish. Happier.
The way she held Aditya's arm. The way she laughed freely. The way her eyes sparkled.
And for some strange reason..
Something twisted slightly inside him.
Not anger. Not irritation.
Something else.
Something unfamiliar.
Maybe because for the first time...
Someone else had her attention completely.
Later
Aishani dragged Aditya all around the college.
She showed him her classroom. The canteen. The corridor where she always bumped into people. The library.
"This is where books attacked me once," she said proudly.
Aditya stared at her.
"Books attacked you?"
"Long story."
As they walked through the library corridor, Aishani paused for a second.
Because suddenly she remembered.
That day.
The bookshelf. The books falling. His almost-smile.
"Next time, just point."
"But then how will we create memories?"
Her chest tightened strangely.
"Aishu?"
She blinked and looked at Aditya.
"Where did you disappear?"
"Nowhere," she smiled quickly.
But somewhere in another corridor..
Revansh stood near the window, watching her from a distance.
Watching her laugh. Watching her smile. Watching someone else become the center of her world for a little while.
And for the first time...
Dr. Revansh Roy did not like that feeling.
After showing him around for a while, Aishani checked the time and sighed.
"Bhai, I still have classes," she said.
"Then?"
"Go to Roy mansion. Everyone is there. I will come later."
Aditya raised an eyebrow.
"You are sending me alone into a stranger's house?"
"They are not strangers," she said quickly.
Then after a pause, she added softly.
"They are family. And they are very nice."
For a second, Revansh's eyes shifted toward her.
Then away.
"Go," she said, pushing Aditya lightly. "And behave properly."
"Okay, madam," he replied.
Roy Mansion
Aditya stood outside the huge Roy mansion and looked up.
"Rich people really love making houses look like palaces," he muttered.
He rang the bell.
A few seconds later, the door opened.
And there she was.
A girl in an oversized t-shirt and messy bun stood there holding a packet of chips.
She looked at him once.
Then at the big bag in his hand.
Then said very confidently--
"Delivery boy?"
Aditya blinked.
"Excuse me?"
"Wait, don't tell me," she continued dramatically. "Clothes? Makeup? Shoes?"
She gasped.
"Oh my God. Is my parcel finally here!?"
Aditya stared at her.
"Do I look like a delivery boy to you?"
She looked him up and down.
"Kind of."
He nodded once.
"Interesting observation."
"Wow. Thank you. So where is my parcel?"
"I am not here to deliver anything," he clarified calmly.
She frowned.
"Then why are you standing here like an unpaid bodyguard?"
Before Aditya could reply, Dadi's voice came from inside.
Who came, Isha?
She looked back once and shouted, "Some random delivery boy with attitude!"
Aditya remained composed, hands behind his back, waiting politely.
A few seconds later, Dadi walked into the hall. Her face lit up instantly.
"Oh, Aditya has come!" she said warmly.
Aditya smiled politely and touched her feet.
"Namaste, Dadi."
Dadi blessed him softly.
Isha stood there awkwardly.
"So... not a delivery boy?"
Aditya looked at her.
"Disappointed?"
"A little," she admitted dramatically.
He laughed quietly.
Just then, Aunty came from the kitchen.
"You must be Aditya," she said kindly. "Aishani told us a lot about you."
"Hopefully only good things," he replied.
Isha raised an eyebrow.
"Depends. Are you planning to steal my snacks too?"
"You don't even know me yet," Aditya replied calmly.
"Exactly. Better to ask important questions first."
Dadi shook her head.
"No one can survive this girl."
"I heard that!" Isha complained.
Aditya smiled to himself.
And for the first time since coming to the city..something about this house felt strangely warm.
After Classes
In the car, Aishani suddenly sat up straight.
"Stop the car!"
Revansh immediately pressed the brake, brows pulling together.
"What happened?"
"Emergency."
His expression sharpened instantly.
"What emergency?"
She pointed dramatically outside the window.
"Fuchka."
He stared at her.
"You made me stop the car for fuchka?"
"Of course! This is a life-saving situation."
Before he could argue, she had already unbuckled her seatbelt and jumped out of the car.
"Aishani--"
Too late.
She was already standing near the small fuchka stall, grinning like a child.
"Come na, Sir," she called out. "Live a little."
"I am living perfectly fine without roadside food," he replied, stepping out anyway.
She gasped dramatically.
"Roadside food!? Excuse me, this is emotion."
The fuchkawala smiled.
"Ma'am, spicy?"
"Extra spicy!"
Revansh folded his arms.
"Then don't cry later."
"I never cry."
Two minutes later, shecoughed, eyes watering.
"Water," she croaked.
Revansh handed her his bottle without a word.
She drank quickly and glared at him.
"This uncle put too much spice."
"You asked for extra spicy."
"Support me emotionally, not logically."
For a second, he almost smiled.
She held out one fuchka toward him.
"Try one."
"No."
"Please."
"No."
"Dr. Grumpy."
"Aishani."
"Dr. AngryBird."
He exhaled slowly, already losing the battle.
Finally, he took one.
She watched him expectantly.
"Well?"
"Too much tamarind."
She looked personally offended.
"Your taste buds are broken."
"And yours are dangerous."
She laughed softly.
Then, without thinking, she wiped a little tamarind water from the corner of his lip with her thumb.
Both of them froze.
For one second, the world around them disappeared.
Then she quickly pulled her hand back.
"You had..." she pointed awkwardly. "There was tamarind."
Revansh looked at her for a second too long.
Then quietly looked away.
"Get in the car."
But his voice sounded softer than usual.
For a few moments, everything felt simple.
Later that evening, when Aishani finally came home after classes with Revansh, she walked into the living room and stopped.
Because there they were.
Isha and Aditya sitting on the sofa.
Both quiet.
"Bhai! He broke my favourite vase," Isha complained.
"It was an accident," Aditya said quietly, almost as if stating a fact.
Aishani blinked.
Then looked at Revansh.
Revansh looked just as done as she felt.
"What happened here?" Aishani asked.
Isha immediately pointed at Aditya.
"Your brother is rude."
"Your sister called me a delivery boy," he added calmly.
Aishani froze.
Then burst out laughing.
Revansh closed his eyes briefly.
"Perfect," he muttered. "Now there are two loud people in this house."
"Three," Aishani corrected proudly.
"Four," Isha added.
Revansh looked at them all for a second.
Then at the chaos in his living room.
And somewhere very deep down...
He didn't hate it as much as he should have.
