Author's Pov
Aishani wakes up groggy, blinking against the bright white ceiling. She doesnโt remember how she got hereย but the faint memory of collapsing in the lecture hall hits her.
Then she hears his voice calm, steady, too close.
โFinally awake, Miss Doraemon?โ
โDr. Grumpy?โ she mumbles, half smiling. โWhere am I?โ
She realizes her hand is connected to a drip. She frowns dramatically.
โYou turned me into a patient? I didnโt sign up for this!โ
He sighs, arms crossed.
โYou fainted in my class. Be grateful I didnโt fail you for that.โ
She notices his rolled up sleeves, tired eyes and the way heโs been sitting there since who knows when.
Did he stay the whole time?
Aishani's POV
I could feel his presence even when he wasnโt saying anything.
The sound of his pen scribbling notes. The faint tap of his fingers against the table. The way he sighed every two minutes like I was his most complicated patient ever.
And yet, he didnโt leave.
He must have checked my temperature every five minutes as if the fever would dare misbehave under Dr. Grumpyโs supervision.
Part of me wanted to tease him, ask why Dr. Grumpy suddenly looked so worried. But another part of me the tired, feverish part just wanted to close my eyes and listen to his quietness.
When I peeked at him again, he was staring at the thermometer with that same deep frown.
โYou worry too much,โ I said softly.
He didnโt even look up.
โYou cause too much worry.โ
I smiled weakly.
โBalance.โ
For a second, I swore the corner of his mouth almost curved upward. Almost.
Author's POV
After hours in the hospital cabin, when her fever finally dropped a little, Revansh made sure she was stable and then decided to take her home.
โYouโre not staying here overnight,โ he said firmly.
โWhy not? I kinda like the attention,โ she mumbled sleepily.
โBecause Iโm not answering Ishaโs twenty calls asking if Iโve kidnapped you or not.โ
The evening sun had already dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in soft shades of lilac and gold. The house was quiet again except for the faint rustle of curtains and the occasional clink of a medicine bottle.
Aishani's POV
Evening light spilled across the hallway as Dr.AngryBird guided me inside, his usual calm expression replaced by that quiet, sharp look of disapproval.
I was still dizzy, wrapped in a blanket heโd practically forced around me before leaving the hospital cabin.
โI told you to rest,โ he muttered, opening the door to my room. โBut no. You had to attend lectures, faint, and give me a mini heart attack.โ
โDr. AngryBird,โ I croaked weakly, โIโm still alive, arenโt I?โ
He gave me a look, that one look that said Donโt test me.
God, even when heโs scolding, he manages to look annoyingly perfect.
He set a tray on my bedside soup, medicines, and a thermometer.
โEat this,โ he said.
โDonโt want to.โ
His jaw clenched.
โThen starve. Iโll just inform Dadi that her brave little girl refuses to eat.โ
My eyes widened.
โYou wouldnโtโ
โI would.โ
I grabbed the bowl immediately.
โFine! Bossy Doctor.โ
Before I could take another spoonful, the door creaked open and Isha walked in first, followed by Mom and Dadi, both looking worried.. all armed with warm water, and too many instructions.
Author's POV
Before Aishani could say anything, Dadi sat beside her, gently stroking her hair, the way only grandmothers can, soft and full of love.
โTaratari sustho hoye jaa shona..โ
(Get well soon dear!) she murmured, her voice trembling with worry.
Aishani smiled faintly, her eyes half lidded. โAmi thikachi, Dida.โ
(I'm okay Dadi)
โYou didnโt even call, silly girl!โ Isha scolded gently.
โIโm fine now,โ Aishani tried to argue weakly.
โYouโre not fine until my son says you are,โ Revanshโs mom said, fluffing her pillow.
Aishani giggled, melting everyone with her innocence.
โYou scared everyone! Revansh bhai was so tense..โ Isha started.
โIsha!โ Aishani cut her off, cheeks warm.
Revansh just stood near the door, arms crossed, pretending not to care but his eyes kept flicking toward her every few seconds.
โShe caught fever, not a fracture,โ he muttered.
His mom chuckled.
โAnd yet you look more restless than her, beta.โ
He cleared his throat and looked away, earning a small smile from Aishani.
โAishani beta! Why didnโt you tell us you were feeling sick?โ Revanshโs mom asked.
Revansh, still leaning against the doorframe, said dryly,
โMaybe because she was too busy dancing in the rain last night.โ
The room went silent.
โIโm sorry what?โ Isha blinked.
โDancing. In. The. Rain.โ He repeated, glaring at Aishani. โIn a thunderstorm. Like a maniac.โ
โIt wasnโt a thunderstorm! It was a drizzle!โ Aishani protested.
โIt was raining cats and dogs, Aishani! You realize how easily you couldโve fallen sick..oh wait, you did.โ
Isha gasped dramatically.
โSo our Dr. Grumpy was Aishaniโs rain partner!โ
โOh, donโt start,โ he replied flatly. โI was watching an idiot slip on wet tiles.โ
His mom tried not to smile.
โWell seems like someone is finally teaching our son to live a little.โ
โSheโs teaching me how to lose my sanity,โ he replied.
Dadi chuckled softly.
โTor jonne to e pagol hoye jabe re.โ (Heโll go mad because of you, dear.)
Aishani hid a shy smile, cheeks pink despite the fever.
โSee, Dr. Grumpy, even Dadi agrees with me.โ
Revansh just sighed.
โRemind me next time to prescribe you common sense.โ
The family burst out laughing, and the room filled with warmth the kind that even fevers couldnโt chase away.
He turned toward her, expression softening just a little.
โEat the soup. Then rest.โ
โYes, Dr. Grumpy.โ
Everyone left after fussing over her, leaving the room quiet. The faint hum of the rain outside returned.
Aishani's POV
The house was silent again. Everyone had left after making sure I was okay. The fever had gone down, but I was still weak.
I thought heโd gone to his room, but when I opened my eyes, he was still there sitting by the lamp, reading a medical journal, pretending not to watch me.
โYouโre still here?โ I whispered.
Without looking up, he said,
โYouโre still sick.โ
โYou donโt have to babysit me, you know.โ
โGood. Because Iโm not. Iโm just making sure you donโt do something stupid again.โ
โDr. AngryBird, youโll catch my fever if you keep sitting there,โ I mumbled sleepily.
He shot me a glare.
โThatโs not how fevers work, Miss Rain Dancer.โ
My lips curved faintly.
โMiss Rain Dancer? Seriously?โ
โRest. Because someone thought rain was vitamin therapy.โ
โYou can go now, Dr. Grumpy. Iโm not dying.โ
โYou sure? You looked halfway to heaven this morning.โ
โYouโre so mean.โ
โAnd youโre reckless.โ
A moment of silence. Then I whispered, soft but teasing,
โYou stayed, didnโt you?โ
He didnโt reply. Just adjusted my blanket again.
โYou talk too much even with a fever.โ
โAnd you worry too much for someone who claims he doesnโt care.โ
He froze for a heartbeat. Our eyes met , my tired smile, his unreadable expression.
โSleep,โ he said quietly. โYouโre still my responsibility.โ
โJust responsibility?โ I murmured.
For a moment, silence.
He didnโt answer just stood there, gaze lingering.
โThen take care of your responsibility properly,โ I added softly.
He stared for a moment and something unspoken hung in the air.
There was the faintest smile on his lips before he turned off the light.
Revansh's POV
She thinks I care too much.
Maybe I do.
She calls me Dr. AngryBird, teases me like Iโm a grumpy man, drives me insane every single day and yet, when she looks sick like this, I canโt look away.
I keep telling myself itโs just duty. Just responsibility.
But the truth?
Every time she laughs, or pouts, or looks at me with those wide hazel doe eyes..I lose a little more of my control.
He sighed, turning off the light.
โGet well soon, Miss Chaos,โ he murmured, barely audible. โMy house is too quiet without your chaos.โ
