11. Them in Rain

๐‘ฏ๐’‚๐’‘๐’‘๐’š ๐‘น๐’†๐’‚๐’…๐’Š๐’๐’ˆ!โ™กโ™ก

Authorโ€™s POV

The clock had just struck midnight. The storm outside had finally calmed down, leaving behind a strange hush in the mansion. Rain still pattered softly against the windows, but the thunder had faded into silence.

On the couch, Aishani stirred under the blanket. Her lashes fluttered open, blinking into the dimly lit room. For a moment, she forgot where she was.

Aishaniโ€™s POV

When I opened my eyes, the storm had calmed. The thunder was gone, but the rain still whispered against the glass.

For a second, I felt so warm and cozy like a little burrito. Then my brain caught up with me.

Tall bookshelves. The faint smell of coffee. Neatly stacked files. A desk lamp still glowing.

Wait. WAIT.

This wasnโ€™t my room.

This was Dr. Grumpyโ€™s room.

And I had fallen asleep here. On his couch. Watching Doraemon. In my Doraemon night suit.

โ€œOh god. Kill me now,โ€ I whispered, hiding my red face in my hands.

Okay, okay. Donโ€™t panic, Aishani. Just get up, quietly sneak out, and nobody will know.

So I tiptoed soft as a cat toward the door. Just a few more steps and Iโ€™d be free.

โ€œPlanning to run away, Chatterbox?โ€

His voice, smooth and low, cut through the silence.

I froze. My heart literally jumped into my throat. Turning slowly, I saw him leaning back in his chair, glasses perched on his nose, that annoying smirk tugging at his lips.

โ€œYou..you were awake!?โ€

โ€œLong enough,โ€ he said casually. โ€œYou were snoring like a little kitten on my couch.โ€

โ€œWHAT!? I do not!โ€ I gasped.

โ€œAnd drool.โ€

My jaw dropped. โ€œI..YOU..no way! Lies!โ€

He raised an eyebrow. โ€œShould I record it next time?โ€

I stomped my foot. โ€œYouโ€™re ugh, leave it!โ€

โ€œIโ€™m the only one patient enough to tolerate you. Now go, before my room loses oxygen,โ€ he said smoothly, standing.

I glared, puffing my cheeks. โ€œGrumpy doctor.โ€

โ€œChatterbox.โ€

And just like that one word from him and my face heated again. Ugh! Why does he smirk like that!?

I ran out before he could see me smiling like an idiot.

First chatterboxโ€ฆ now kitten.

Revanshโ€™s POV

The girl is unbelievable. She barges into my room, wears cartoon pajamas, falls asleep like she owns the couch and then has the nerve to act embarrassed about it.

But when I watched her breathing softly, hugging the pillow like it was her lifeline I didnโ€™t feel irritated. I feltย  weirdly calm.

The way she hides her face with her tiny hands when she realised that she slept in my room that was so cute.

Thatโ€™s why I teased her when she woke up. I couldnโ€™t resist. The way she glares, stomps, pouts, she reacts like a firecracker.

And yet, beneath all that chaos, thereโ€™s something I canโ€™t ignore.

She makes me smile.

And thatโ€™s dangerous.

Next Morning โ€“ Library

Authorโ€™s POV

By morning, the entire mansion was alive with the fresh smell of rain soaked earth. The family hadnโ€™t returned yet, and the house was still unusually quiet.

Aishani, after a sleepless night replaying every single embarrassing detail, had found herself in the library. Warm wooden shelves, the faint scent of old books, a soft couch by the window it felt safe. So safe, in fact, that she dozed off again with an open book on her lap.

Revansh walked in, scanning the shelves for a file. Then he stopped.

Aishani was curled on the couch, still in that Doraemon night suit, her book slipping from her lap. Strands of messy hair fell across her face, lips moving as if whispering in her dreams. The sight was ridiculously peaceful.

For a man who thrived on order, she looked like pure chaos.

But somehow, his lips twitched.

Revanshโ€™s POV

I rubbed my temple. Does she seriously not have a bed? First she barges into my room and sleeps like she owns the couch. And now the library?

โ€œOh my god, this girlโ€ฆโ€ I muttered, shaking my head.

I shouldโ€™ve woken her up. I shouldโ€™ve scolded her. But instead, I pulled a blanket from the side shelf and carefully draped it over her.

โ€œHopeless,โ€ I sighed, though the faint tug at the corner of my mouth betrayed me.

Why do I even bother? Sheโ€™ll never learn boundaries. Yet the sight of her here, curled up peacefully it makes this cold library feel alive.

I should be angry. Instead, I feel relieved.

Aishaniโ€™s POV

When I woke up again in the library, the first thing I saw was the rain falling endlessly like silver threads, drenching the garden. My heart jumped instantly.

โ€œBristii!โ€ I whispered.(Rain)

Without thinking, I ran outside. The first drop hit my cheek and I twirled.

The second slid down my chin and I laughed. Within seconds, I was drenched spinning, splashing..the world fading into pure happiness.

Back in my village, I always ran in the rain. It felt like the sky itself was hugging me.

I spread my arms wide and twirled again.

โ€œAishani!โ€

Oops.

I froze, water dripping down my lashes.

There he was Dr. Grumpy himself, arms folded, looking like thunder personified.

โ€œYouโ€™ve completely lost it!โ€ he snapped.

โ€œDancing in the rain in this weather? Do you want pneumonia? Fever? Hmm?โ€

But did I listen? Nope. I twirled again.

โ€œLoosen up, Dr. Grumpy! Itโ€™s just rain, not poison!โ€

Before he could yell again, my foot slipped against the slick stone.

โ€œAhhh!โ€

The world tilted until strong arms caught me mid fall.

Solid. Warm. Safe.

My breath hitched. My eyes flew open.

Dr. Grumpy.

His shirt was soaked, hair damp, his arm locked tight around my waist, pulling me against him. The other hand gripped my wrist as if the world would end if he let go.

For a moment, all I could hear was the rain.

Then thud, thud, thud..his heartbeat, steady but faster than I expected.

I tilted my head up. His face was inches away..sharp jawline, rain dripping from his hair, eyes burning down into mine.

โ€œYouโ€ his jaw clenched, voice low and sharp, โ€œare reckless. Do you ever think before doing something?โ€

โ€œI-I was justโ€”โ€

โ€œJust what?โ€ he snapped softly, tightening his hold before setting me upright. โ€œTrying to break your bones? You couldโ€™ve hit your head!โ€

I bit my lip, cheeks flaming.

โ€œYouโ€™re a doctor, na? Youโ€™d treat me and Iโ€™d be fine.โ€

Him muttering about "this girl"testing my patience, before draping his jacket over my shoulders. Even in the middle of his scolding, his hand lingered warm, steady.

Revanshโ€™s POV

Her Doraemon night-suit clung to her as she spun, barefoot on the wet tiles, laughing like a child who had found freedom in the rain.

One second she was twirling; the next she was slipping. My heart nearly stopped. I didnโ€™t even think before catching her.

Now she stood before me, drenched, pouting, looking up with those wide hazel eyes.

Impossible girl. Reckless. Careless. And yetโ€ฆ

If I hadnโ€™t caught her I donโ€™t even want to imagine.

โ€œYouโ€™ll be the end of my sanity, Chatterbox.โ€

And when she smiled bright, unbothered, grateful I realized ...

She pouted, muttering, โ€œI was just enjoying, grumpy doctor.โ€

โ™กโ™ก

And just like the storm outside, the two of them clashed again - loud, chaotic, unstoppable.

Yet beneath it allโ€ฆ the first drops of something softer had already begun to fall.
