The morning sun spilled through the tall glass windows of the Roy mansion, painting golden streaks across the marble floor. The breakfast table buzzed with chatter clinking cutlery, soft laughter, and the comforting aroma of parathas and fresh coffee filling the air.

Aishani sat a little stiff at the corner of the breakfast table, her mind far away, still replaying fragments of last nightโ€™s call with her father. She didnโ€™t even realize she was zoning out until a mischievous whisper broke through her thoughts.

โ€œSoโ€ฆโ€ Isha leaned closer, eyes sparkling, โ€œโ€ฆyou actually called bhai Dr. Grumpy, oh my god!โ€

The entire table burst into laughter.

Aishaniโ€™s head snapped up, eyes wide. โ€œWha-- Isha!โ€ she squeaked, nearly choking on her toast. Her cheeks burned as the entire table erupted into giggles.

Revansh, seated directly opposite her, froze mid-sip of his coffee. His sharp gaze flicked to Aishani, a glare that could cut steel. The laughter only grew louder.

โ€œFits him perfectly, doesnโ€™t it?โ€ Isha added gleefully, ignoring her brotherโ€™s warning look. โ€œAlways sulking, always scoldingโ€ฆ Dr. Grumpy is just--โ€

โ€œIsha.โ€ Revanshโ€™s voice was low, dangerous.

The table went silent for a split second.. before bursting out laughing again.

Aishani pressed her lips together to stop her giggles but failed. She peeked at Revansh through her lashes, the man looked two seconds away from tossing his coffee mug at someone.

โ€œDonโ€™t encourage her,โ€ he muttered darkly, taking a long sip.

But Aishani caught it. That tiny twitch at the corner of his lips, like he was holding back the ghost of a smile.

And her heart? Oh, it did a ridiculous little flip.

At Lily Medical College & Hospital, students buzzed through the corridors, but Aishaniโ€™s steps faltered. She wasnโ€™t sure why her stomach twisted - nerves, excitement, or both.

Thatโ€™s when the deep voice behind her made her freeze.

โ€œMiss Aishani,โ€ Revansh said, his tone clipped. โ€œYou seem distracted. Thatโ€™s not a good sign for a medical student.โ€

She turned, blinking. โ€œDistracted? Me? Noooโ€ฆ I was justโ€ฆ admiring the hospital walls.โ€

His eyes narrowed. โ€œDonโ€™t test me. Youโ€™re coming with me today.โ€

โ€œWhat? Where?โ€

โ€œTo the operating theatre.โ€

Her eyes widened. โ€œWhat? Inside the OT? Butโ€”students arenโ€™t allowedโ€”โ€

His tone cut through her protests. โ€œMy father told me to guide you. And since you canโ€™t focus anywhere else, maybe this will finally teach you something useful.โ€ His smirk was razor sharp.

A critical patient had been rushed in, a case so complicated that only one man could handle it.

Dr. Revansh Roy.

Revansh stopped in front of her just before she entered the OT. His sharp gaze flicked from her trembling fingers to the mask she kept fumbling with.

โ€œYou look like youโ€™re about to faint already,โ€ he said dryly, adjusting his gloves. โ€œDonโ€™t. Otherwise, the door is right there. I canโ€™t take another headache.โ€

Aishani gasped. Her jaw dropped โ€œExcuse me?! Headache?! You--I--uhโ€

โ€œGood,โ€ he cut her off smoothly, tugging on his gloves. โ€œSave your words. Inside, youโ€™ll need your eyes, not your mouth.โ€

โ€œAnd donโ€™t waste my time.โ€ His tone was cutting, but there was something oddly protective beneath it. โ€œIf you canโ€™t stand the sight of blood, stay out. I donโ€™t want to deal with another headache in the OT.โ€

โ€œUghhh!โ€ she huffed, stomping after him. โ€œDr. AngryBird very very bad hmm!!.โ€

The OT was cold, sterile, almost suffocating. Machines beeped steadily, the faint smell of antiseptic hanging in the air. Aishani stood in the observation corner, nervously tugging at the mask tied behind her head.

Then Revansh entered.

The grumpy, sarcastic man she bickered with. Dressed in scrubs, mask covering half his face, surgical gloves snapping against his hands, he transformed into someone else entirely - someone commanding, confident, untouchable.

Her breath hitched.

The patient lay on the table, a critical heart case. Nurses and junior doctors stood ready, tense. Revanshโ€™s voice cut through the air, calm but firm.

โ€œScalpel.โ€

โ€œClamp.โ€

โ€œRetractor.โ€

His voice carried authority, his hands moving with unshakable precision.

Nurses obeyed instantly, as if they knew what heโ€™d need before he even asked.

The patients vital dipped suddenly a sharp beeping filled the room.

Everyone tensed but Revansh didn't even flinch. His tone sharped as he gave rapid orders, hands steady movement swift.

Aishani's breath caught. For the first time she saw him not as the ''Dr.AngryBird or Dr.Grumpy'' not as the accused stalker she accused of him being... but as a great doctor - a man who could hold a life in his hands bring it back." Her heart thudded. So thisโ€ฆ this is the real Revansh Roy.

And she couldn't look away.

Minutes turned into hours. The only sound was the rhythmic beeping of the monitor and the calm orders from his lips. Not once did his hands falter.

And finally - beep, beep, beep - the patientโ€™s heartbeat steadied. Relief swept across the room.

Revansh peeled off his gloves, his mask sliding down. His gaze flicked briefly to her.

โ€œStill standing? Impressive. Didnโ€™t think you had it in you.โ€

Aishani lifted her chin. โ€œI told you, Iโ€™m stronger than I look.โ€

For a fleeting second, there was something different in his eyes, something almost like approval. But then it was gone.

โ€œDonโ€™t get used to it,โ€ he said curtly, brushing past her.

Outside the OT, the corridor felt eerily quiet compared to the storm inside. Aishani leaned against the wall, her heart still racing.

He walked past her, tugging his gloves off. She blurted, โ€œYou wereโ€ฆ incredible in there.โ€

He stopped. Slowly Turned.

Her cheeks flushed crimson. โ€œI mean as a surgeon! Not likeโ€ฆ you know.โ€

His lips twitched, almost a smile but not quite.

Smirking, he drawled,โ€œTell me something I donโ€™t know, Miss Aishani.โ€

Rolling her eyes , she said โ€œUnbelievable. You actually compliment yourself better than anyone else could.โ€

โ€œOf course,โ€ he replied smoothly, as if it were the most obvious truth in the world. Then, his sharp eyes flicked back to her.

โ€œNow, donโ€™t stare at me like a lost kid. Go attend your classes.โ€

She gasped.โ€œLost kid!? Huhh!! Seriously Sir!!โ€

But he was already walking away, shaking his head, muttering under his breath, โ€œThis girl will be the end of my sanity.โ€

What he didnโ€™t admit, even to himself, was that for the first time in a long time someone had surprised him. And he wasnโ€™t sure whether he liked it or feared it.
