The chaos outside Lily Medical College and Hospital was impossible to ignore. Reporters shoved microphones forward, cameras flashed in a frenzy, and the crowd buzzed with anticipation.
But the man they waited for didn't flinch.
The door of a black Rolls Royce opened, and Dr. Revansh Roy stepped out, tall, commanding, untouchable.
The world knew him as the prodigy heart surgeon-the man whose name appeared in every medical journal, the one whose skills had been compared to "divine intervention." But the crowd wasn't here only for the doctor. They were here for the myth.
Revansh's broad shoulders filled out a crisp white shirt, sleeves rolled neatly to his elbows. Black jeans fit him like they were tailored for his tall, athletic build. A sleek watch gleamed against his skin, every detail screaming money, power, and a man who knew exactly who he was.
But it wasn't his clothes that made people stop and stare.
It was his eyes.
Dark brown, sharp enough to slice through the thickest wall of noise, carrying an intensity that made hearts stutter. Beneath the polish, there was danger a man who didn't forgive, who didn't bend.
Reporters screamed questions about his takeover, his future plans, his personal life.
He didn't answer a single one.
With long strides, Revansh walked past them, every step calculated, every movement commanding. He didn't need to speak. His silence was power enough.
Inside, the staff gathered, excitement and nerves tangling together.
"Dr. Roy has arrived."
He's even more handsome in real life
"Handsome? He looks terrifying."
The whispers cut off when he entered.
Revansh's mother rushed to him first, eyes brimming. She cupped his face, her voice trembling. "You're finally home, beta..."
His siblings hugged him, laughter mixing with tears, their joy genuine and overflowing.
But when his father stepped forward, pride stiff in his posture, Revansh's jaw tightened almost imperceptibly.
"Ladies and gentlemen," his father's voice boomed, "I present to you my son Dr. Revansh Roy. The new owner of Lily Medical College and Hospital."
Applause thundered. Smiles brightened the room.
But Revansh didn't smile back.
"I don't want applause," he said coolly, voice deep enough to silence the room. "I want excellence. Discipline. Perfection. Anything less is failure-and failure is unacceptable."
The words landed like a stone.
Nurses shifted uncomfortably. A few exchanged worried glances.
He was home. But it didn't feel like homecoming.
It felt like conquest.
Across the city, a girl stepped into the same world with a very different heart.
Aishani Mitra.
Her hazel eyes sparkled with excitement as she adjusted the strap of her bag. She'd just arrived in the city a new beginning, a fresh chapter, a chance to chase the dream she'd nurtured since childhood.
Studying at Lily Medical College.
Her father's friend had offered her a place to stay until she settled, but first she had to see it. The hospital. The college. The place she had whispered about in prayers, scribbled about in diaries, imagined in her wildest daydreams.
Her lavender kurti swayed gently as she walked, her braid brushing against her back. Her smile was soft but radiant the kind that could make strangers pause.
Inside the hospital, she stopped. The building smelled faintly of antiseptic, but there was something else here too. Something heavy. Intense.
She shook it off.
No place is too big for me, she told herself. I'll make it mine.
Her first instinct wasn't to head straight for the office. Instead, she found herself carrying a bunch of fresh flowers she had picked up earlier, offering them to patients sitting gloomily in the waiting area
"Here," she said to an old woman with weary eyes. "A little colour to brighten your day."
The woman's lips curved into a shaky smile as she pulled Aishani into a hug. "You're an angel, child. An absolute angel."
Aishani giggled, cheeks glowing pink. "Just spreading a little joy."
The patients lit up around her children waved, an old man blessed her, and for a moment, the hospital felt lighter.
But not everyone appreciated it.
Revansh had been on his way to his new office when he heard the sound of laughter. It was out of place in the sterile hallways, and it grated against his nerves.
He turned the corner-and stopped.
A girl stood in the center of the waiting area, holding flowers, her smile wide and unshaken even as patients clung to her warmth.
His jaw tightened.
Who is she? And what nonsense is this?
Striding forward, his presence cut through the cheer like a blade. The chatter died instantly.
"What," his voice was low, lethal, "do you think you're doing?"
Aishani looked up, startled by the man towering over her. Her first thought: Wow... intimidating. Her second: How dare he?
"I'm just... trying to spread some joy," she said, her tone calm, polite, but firm. "Hospitals can be heavy. Patients need more than medicine sometimes."
His gaze hardened, eyes narrowing like a predator zeroing in on prey. "This is not a playground. You don't belong here."
A hush spread. Nurses whispered at the edges, horrified at her daring to answer back.
But Aishani didn't flinch. She tilted her head, black eyes shining with quiet strength. "Funny... the patients don't seem to agree."
The air between them shifted. Her calm warmth clashed with his ice-cold authority, an invisible storm brewing. For the first time, someone hadn't shrunk under his tone.
Revansh leaned closer, voice dropping even lower. "Leave. Now. Before I make you."
Her heartbeat spiked, but she refused to let it show. Instead, she gave a tiny smile, collected her papers, and walked away with steady steps.
As the doors closed behind her, she muttered under her breath, "Well... that was fun."
Revansh's eyes lingered on the empty space where she'd stood.
That girl... dangerous.
And for the first time in years, his pulse skipped.
Neither of them realized it yet
but the doctor's ice-cold world had just met its first heartbeat.
